Hi, I’m Jo, the therapist behind The Unedited Self. I am a qualified Integrative Therapist with experience supporting individuals through personal growth, self-acceptance, and navigating life’s challenges. I believe therapy should be a space where you can be your true self without judgment, with a therapist who is also genuine and real.
I have experience working with a range of issues such as relationship difficulties, neurodivergence in adults and children, parenting, mental health difficulties, anxiety and depression, attachment difficulties and concerns about childbirth and breastfeeding.
My philosophy
Individuality
Individuality in this space means honouring your pace, your voice, and your way of making meaning. I work with who you are — not who you’re “supposed” to be.
Your quirks. Your sensitivities. Your ambitions. Your contradictions.
Individuality means we don’t work toward becoming a “better version” of someone else — we work toward becoming more fully you.
Responsibility
At The Unedited Self, responsibility means ownership without shame.
We cannot change what we refuse to look at. And we cannot grow if everything is someone else’s fault.
Responsibility in therapy is about reclaiming your power — noticing your patterns, understanding your impact, and choosing differently when you’re ready.
I will challenge you gently when needed. I will also support you fully. Because real change requires both compassion and courage.
Authenticity
Healing begins the moment we stop trying to be edited versions of ourselves. In our work together, authenticity isn’t something I encourage without offering it myself.
I show up as a real person — present, and honest — so you have freedom to do the same. Therapy with me is a space where you get to be human. Fully.
Competence
At The Unedited Self, competence means depth, intention, and integrity.
Competence isn’t about being impressive — it’s about being steady, informed, and intentional. I bring training, experience and ongoing professional development into every session, so our work has direction and depth.
This is a space where insight is supported by skill.
Structure
Structure allows vulnerability to feel safer.
Each session is 50 minutes, offering a predictable beginning and ending. That rhythm helps you know what to expect, and that sense of steadiness supports deeper exploration over time.
The frame is consistent — and within it, there is space for whatever you bring.
Transparency
I believe openness reduces anxiety.
When you know what to expect — from scheduling to boundaries to therapeutic direction — it becomes easier to relax into the work. I strive to communicate clearly and directly, so there are no unnecessary surprises.
Transparency supports safety. And safety supports growth.
